Emergency Room Medical Malpractice Settles for $500,000 (2008)

A man with a recent cervical surgery had bleeding complications a couple days after the surgery.  He went to the emergency room, where he began to have breathing problems.  There was a significant delay in performing a trachestomy to open the man's windpipe, and he died.  The defendants contended that there was nothing that could have been done to save the man due to the bleeding problems.  The case settled for $500,000 shortly before trial.

Awarded: $500,000
